Adjournment – Ending Homelessness
My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Housing, and the action I seek from the minister is to urgently commit to ending homelessness here in Victoria.
State Taxation Acts and Other Acts Amendment Bill 2023 Second Reading
I rise to speak on behalf of the Greens to the State Taxation Acts and Other Acts Amendment Bill 2023. This bill contains a number of proposed changes to Victoria’s tax system and amends a number of acts relating to the sale of land.
Grievance Debate – Cost of Living
I rise to speak on the grievance debate today, and I want to grieve for those Victorians who are struggling with the cost of living—Victorians who are being pushed to the margins and Victorians who are being pushed, essentially, off the metaphorical cliff.
Adjournment- Rental Support
My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation, and the action I seek is for the minister to protect renters with controls on rents, improved standards and more secure leases. Around 60 per cent of people in Prahran are renters, and renters need a fair go.

Commercial Tenancy Relief Scheme Bill 2021 Second Reading

COVID-19 Commercial and Residential Tenancies Legislation Amendment (Extension) Bill 2020 Second Reading
I rise on behalf of the Greens to speak to the COVID-19 Commercial and Residential Tenancies Legislation Amendment (Extension) Bill 2020. We welcome this bill to extend the protections in place for residential tenancies until the end of March 2021—I believe with an option then to extend to April if required—and to extend the protections for commercial tenancies until the end of April 2021
Retail Leases Amendment Bill 2019 Second Reading
I rise on behalf of the Greens to speak to the Retail Leases Amendment Bill 2019. I will speak briefly on it and I will just go to what is in the bill, which confirms the current practice of landlords passing on the cost of repairs, maintenance and installation of essential safety measures to tenants when agreed to in a lease.
Consumer Legislation Amendment Bill 2019 Second Reading
I am just going to speak briefly on this bill. It is an omnibus bill that covers a range of legislation: the Residential Tenancies Act 1997, the Sex Work Act 1994, the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012, the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 and the Fundraising Act 1998. But I want to […]
