Supermarkets won’t stop price gouging on their own.They’ll keep unfairly raising their prices, so they can grow their $2 billion+ profits, while everyday people struggle to afford their groceries.
But state governments, if they choose to, can step in to directly stop supermarket price gouging and make grocery prices fairer.
The Greens are pushing the Victorian Labor Government to regulate supermarkets to stop price gouging.
We’ve introduced a bill – the Supermarket Industry Bill 2024 – which lays out exactly how the government can do this.
