Sam Hibbins to ask the Minister for Carers and Volunteers —

In light of the crucial support that Community Information and Support services (CISVic) provides to some of the most vulnerable people in Victoria, will the Government commit to providing a paid coordinator in every CISVic member agency in the upcoming state budget.

Response from Minister for Carers and Volunteers

Community Information and Support agencies play a valuable role in providing emergency relief and supporting people in vulnerable situations with personal and finance matters.

I acknowledge the significant impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on volunteer workforces, who play such a critical role in community organisations across the state, including in Community Information and Support agencies.

The Allan Labor Government is pleased to provide approximately $390,000 per annum to the peak body, Community Information and Support Victoria (CISVic), to support the important work they undertake in Victorian communities.

The request for additional funding for the sector will be considered as part of the 2024-25 State Budget process.

I thank CISVic and member agencies for their continued advice on these matters.
