Sam Hibbins to ask the Minister for Carers and Volunteers —
Will the Government consider an immediate increase in the number of financial services workers to meet the high increase in demand for their services.
Response from the Minister for Carers and Volunteers
The Allan Labor Government is continuing to provide support to Victorians experiencing significant financial stress and economic exclusion.
The 2021-22 Victorian Budget provided $14.55 million over four years to continue the Good Money program, delivered by Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand.
Established in 2010, Good Money provides sustainable financial services such as low and no-interest loans, budgeting advice, and referrals to other community support services to Victorians experiencing significant financial stress.
Funding supports the continuation of four shopfronts in Collingwood, Geelong, Dandenong, and Morwell, along with phone and digital platforms to provide alternative access options to those experiencing financial vulnerability.
